RBDW High Oleic Sunflower oil
HOSO
HO Sunflower oil is a vegetable oil pressed from the seeds of a variety of sunflowers (Helianthus annuus). This oil contains many mono-unsaturated fatty acids and is extremely resistant to high temperatures. For that reason it can be used for deep-frying, while the contribution to saturated fatty acids remains low. This high oleic variant contains at least 80% fatty acid (C18:1).
Essential fatty acids are vital biological elements that need to be absorbed through the daily diet because the body is not able to synthesise them.
Sunflower oil contains around 55 mg vitamin E per 100 gm. Vitamin E is crucial for the protection of cell membranes. It is an important antioxidant, actively combating free radicals.
Applications
Due to its universal characteristics and its high heat stability, HO sunflower oil is used for a broad range of applications:
As a general cooking oil, it is used for roasting, baking and deep-fat frying.
Due to its high vitamin E content and low saturated fat content, it is a healthy oil for human consumption.
In industrial applications such as frying oil for snacks, it is a healthy alternative to palm oil or palm oleine because of its low saturated fat content. The high level of oleic acid also prevents the formation of trans fatty acids.
It can be used in ointments to protect the skin against dehydration and it is also thought to have a protective effect against potential infections.
